Having grown up in a musical family, Chaka D began harnessing his musical skills at the tender age of 12 playing at local functions in the small mining town of Mhangura with Djs Sasha and the Koloko Crew.
This passion for music did not abate as he took doing seriously when he attended Rhodes University in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

At Rhodes University has joined RMR as a regular session on air presenter and a member of the mobile disco team. In a few years he had moved from being a member to sitting on the stations board of managers. In 1998 he became the Station Manager and helped them get a on air broadcast license.

After completing his studies in Economics, Chaka D returned to Zimbabwe and joined the National Radio Station then called Radio 3. Making a splash on the local scene was his goal and he achieved that with a show dubbed "The Mafoota Jam" he also helped usher in the local music genre called Urban Grooves by allowing young upcoming artists to showcase their music on his show. The early morning Sunday show developed a strong following that resounded around the country and resulted in invitations to dj at various functions and venues around the country: such as
Vic-Falls, Bulawayo, Kadoma, Gweru, Kwekwe, Mutare and Masvingo

In early 2000 he embarked on a journey to the United States where he quickly established himself as a strong player in the then biggest club in Indiana called Club Zambezi.
He participated in the launching of the Zim-Expo shows and for several years was the dj of choice.
During his time in the USA he produced several mix tapes whilst focusing on his studies

2010 saw Chaka D return to South africa where he held several shows dubbed "First Fridays" at the Blue room in Sandton alongside Huggies members Kudzi Marudza and Witness Matema. Being back in southern africa has allowed Chaka D to once again focus on his music and do shows within the region. He is also managing gospel artist Audrey M and launching a recording studio.

Currently he is working on a long awaited album - which he calls a labor of love... soon to be released towards the end of 2012
